And'Art Casablanca
In September I was privileged to be chosen to take part in a residency with Terre Sans Frontiere in Casablanca.
The experience was fascinating on many levels. A mix of cultures brought together to respond to the setting of Casablanca through a variety of artistic media. Musicians, sculptors, photographers, painters and animators both international and local to Morocco collaborated and worked individually to overcome language barriers and create fantastic art and music synergy.
Here's what I got up to -
Collaborative work; Our animation entitled 'Casa Blanca'
With Aïmen Hachem, Music (Morocco) https://www.facebook.com/Nomade.studios
Stephanie Carlton-Smith, Sculptor (London) http://www.stephaniecarltonsmith.co.uk/
Kim Alexander, Animator/Illustrator (London) http://www.kimalexander.co.uk/
Stop motion painting of our White House
Stop motion Atlas, made from gravel, sand and local spices.
A stop motion painting scene, up on the roof with a view of Casa's landscape.
Another scene; cameo's from some of the many, many kittens and cats that roam free on the streets of Casa.
Waiting for a 'petit taxi', which we drove around in to film our White House against a back drop of an evolving Casablanca.
Watch the animation on YouTube!
Collaboration with Camilla Helen Brendon (London) http://www.camillabrendon.com/ ; an experimental drawing installation, with documenting through photography and video by Marina Velez Vago(Cambridge) http://www.marinavelez.com/
and Andy Sawyer (Manchester) http://andysawyer.com/
My Personal work
Acrylic paint, watercolour paper and found materials (cardboard, concrete floor tile.)
120x80cm
Thanks to Andy Sawyer (Manchester)for the photographs, he's dead good at them.
Thank you to Amy Smyth-Said and Saad Eddine Said the co-ordinators of And'Art and Terre Sans Frontiere
Lots of love to everyone involved xx

Kim and Aimen filmed our taxi ride from Aimen's scooter. There was no budget for stunt doubles, it really was them.
